Everyone has experience that feeling of being lightheaded, with their vision slowly getting blurry, and their feet getting unbalanced. That feeling is what is commonly referred to as dizziness.

Dizziness is the feeling of being lightheaded, woozy, or unbalanced. It affects the sensory organs, specifically the eyes and ears, so it can sometimes cause fainting. Feeling dizzy in and of itself is not a disease, but rather a symptom for some other underlying condition. Having an episode of feeling dizzy is not uncommon and usually the underlying cause for it is not serious. However, if you continue to feel dizzy at regular intervals for no discernable reason, then it is recommended that you consult your physician immediately.

Some of the more common causes of dizziness can include migraine headaches, certain medicines that cause nausea, and an overconsumption of alcoholic beverages. Feeling dizzy often be a result of vertigo as well. Another cause for vertigo and dizziness from vertigo can be attributed to the condition known as benign positional vertigo (BPV). This causes short-term dizziness when someone changes positions quickly, such as sitting up in bed after lying down. Some other possible causes of why you be feeling dizzy include:

* A sudden drop in blood pressure

* Heart muscle disease

* Decrease in blood volume

* Anxiety disorders

* Anemia (low iron)

* Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)

* Dehydration

* Heat stroke

* Excessive exercise

* Motion sickness

Some of the symptoms of feeling dizzy include, but are not limited to:

* Lightheadedness or feeling faint

* A false sense of spinning

* Unsteadiness

* Loss of balance

Treatment for dizziness focuses on the underlying cause. In most cases, home remedies and medical treatments can control the cause of dizziness
